Elf Natural and Party Palette Review and Swatches

Hi ladies!
Here's my review of the two Limited Edition eyeshadow palettes by Elf, the Natural and the Party Palette. These are still available online and they are perfect as a (Christmas or Birthday) present!

Review: the palettes come in a black plastic packaging which is transparent on the top so you can see the eyeshadows in it. There are 6 eyeshadows and a small eyeshadow brush.

Party Palette: this palette contains...
- A pale shimmering pink with golden glitters in it
- a very light satin blue
- a gorgeous velvety purple
- a soft pinkish purple
- a sparkling metal/grey with silver glitters
- a sparkling black with gorgeous silver glitters

The average pigmentation of these eyeshadows is good, although a couple of them, the first two, were quite disappointing. Th other shades are lovely though, especially the velvety purple, the grey and black, which are highly pigmented and very soft. The texture is quite fine and not too powdery, with a base these last very well and blend very well too.

Natural Palette contains...
- A shimmery salmon pink
- a pure sparkling gold
- a gorgeous copper
- a velvety sand color
- a velvety nude brown
- a shimmery dark/coffee brown

Overall this palette has a better pigmentation than the Party one, especially the darker shades, but has a slightly worse texture as the first row color are very glittery and powdery! So application can result quite tricky.

+ gorgeous shades
+ quite good pigmentation overall (some exceptions though)
+ quite good texture
+ only 4€ so good quality/price

- some shades aren't as pigmented as others
- some powdery or too glittery shades

- useless brush (maybe for blending pencil?)

Overall: If you're looking for a dramatic/smokey eyes palette, then you'll find the Party one suitable for your tastes as the dark shades work really well in terms of pigmentation and texture, although the palest ones aren't so intense.
If you prefer natural shades the Natural palette is a perfect choice as it's got gorgeous shimmery/velvety shades, however some of them are a bit too powdery.
Overall, considering their price (only 4€) these are good palettes for special occasions (Party palette) or to carry around in the bag.

-rossetto: impossibile scegliere per me! Uno simbolico su tutti: Viva Glam Cyndi di Mac, ma anche i Round lipsticks di Nyx!
-tinta per labbra: OCC Lip tars forever! E se mi leggete regolarmente, ne sapete qualcosa =P
-gloss: Buzz lipglass di Mac! Ma anche Wicked Ways sempre di Mac
-ombretto in polvere: no qui non si puo' proprio scegliere! o_O In generale amo gli Urban Decay!
-ombretto in crema: non li amo particolarmente, ma direi gli Aqua Cream di MUFE
-palette: scontatissimo ma...La NAKED di Urban Decay! xD anche se le i-Divine di Sleek sono altrettanto belle!

Ciao ragazze!!!
Vi avevo promesso una sorpresina entro fine anno ed eccola qua! Glamorous MakeUp sbarca sul Tubo! :D Così eccomi in questo breve video di presentazione, in cui colgo l'occasione e vi faccio Tantissimi Auguri per uno splendido 2011! Ancora migliore del 2010! ;)

Ci tengo particolarmente a ringraziare tutte voi che mi leggete, seguite, commentate qui, su Facebook e su Twitter... E spero anche su YouTube da ora! :D

Per il momento non farò ancora tutorial, ma limiterò a video haul, review ecc perchè come potete ben notare, la luce non è delle migliori e la qualità neanche =P

Domani mattina parto e starò via per una settimana circa, torno il 4 o il 5 gennaio, nel frattempo pubblicherò altri post,  ma non mi potrò connettere molto spesso (dalla Francia), così ho pensato appunto di salutarvi per bene ;) Andrò anche alla ricerca di una bella telecamerina così per l'anno nuovo i video potranno essere decenti =)

Direi che è tutto! Vi auguro ancora una volta di passare un felicissimo Capodanno e un sereno 2011! Pieno di serenità, felicità...e makeup! ;-D

As you can see it's not a usual Christmasy look, but something a bit different. Unfortunately, the intensity of the colors doesn't show up as I wanted because of the lights...But the silver was gorgeous and pink popped out!

Face Atelier Ultra Foundation Review

Hi ladies!

During these days I've been trying several foundation because I've strted the quest for the perfect one!

I've never been a foundation maniac, however, since I saw Lisa Eldridge's tutorial for "Acne Covering Makeup", where she uses foundation as a concealer to obtain a perfectly evened out skintone, I began searching for the perfect foundation to match my skin type and tone.

I have normal/combination skin with breakouts on the chin and dilated pores around my nose, due to my ex-rosacea. My complexion is quite fair so I often have difficulties in finding the exact match for my skin tone...

Face Atelier Ultra Foundation, what they say:
"Ultra Foundation is a silicone-based emulsion that floats on top of the skin, without creasing or flaking. Hydrating yet oil-free, it obscures tiny lines and pores to ensure a smooth finish. Primer is not needed, It's built into Ultra Foundations sophisticated, silicone-based formula. Ultra Foundation's top-secret formulation creates an optical blurring effect that diminishes fine lines and wrinkles and gives the illusion of a smoother, more uniform and naturally dewy finish. A listers are loving this product Fergie and Lady Gaga to name a few."

First Impressions: I first tried this foundation in a sample, ordered from Love Makeup. What I usually look for is quite high coverage, matt finish and long lasting power without needing to touch up every few of hours...

Face Atelier Ultra Pro Foundation

This foundation is available in a "standard" size of 30ml at 32£ and a so-called "Pro" size of 20ml at 25£. My shade wasn't available in regular size so I bought the Pro size. However, I think the Pro bottle is quite tiny!! As you can see it's almost the same measure as my index finger!

#2 Ivory

My shade is the second lightest one, "Ivory", however this foundation is available in 10 shades, but you can also buy a 0+ and a 0- shade in order to adjust the foundation to your complexion.

The bottle comes with a pump so the amount of product can be easily dosed.

Review: With this product a little goes a long way! You just need a little amount to cover a wide portion of skin. The formula is runny and lightweight. Its consistence is very soft and creates an imperceptible veil on your skin, so you won't feel it on!

Coverage is medium/buildable to high, perfect if you need to cover little scars, redness, acne and black spots. It's quite hydrating and dries up not too fast, giving you the time to blend it well and, moreover, it blends out really well! This has to be because of the slicone-based formula.

The finish is between the matte and the dewy one, that is to say it's not completely matte but it gives a healthy finish to the skin. I always set foundation and concealer with powder and I think that if you have combination or oily skin you'll need to do this as well. This foundation lasts about 5/6 hours on me, before needing to touch up.

INCI: Cyclomethicone, Water, Glycerin, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Cetyl Peg/Ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Cetyl Dimethicone Copolyol, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, Cellulose Gum, Nylon-12, Tribehenin, Lauroyl Lysine, Tristearin, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben. May Contain: Ci77891/Titanium Dioxide, Ci77492 Ci77491 Ci77499/Iron Oxides, Mica Ci77019


Despite its quite bad INCI, with Cyclomethicone at first place, after a week I didn't experience any breakouts due to the formula which is silicone-based, so thumbs up for Face Atelier Ultra Foundation! But If you're an eco-bio fan I would suggest to close this window! xD

I'll update the post with pictures of before and after application as soon as I have time ;)

Overall: I think this foundation is absolutely great if:

+ you have normal/combination or a bit dry skin, as it moisturizes and hydrates very well without being too heavy.

+ you are looking for medium/buildable to high coverage for redness, acne, little scars, rosacea. A little goes a long way with this foundation!

+ you like a semi matte/dewy finish that makes the skin looking healthy

+ you need a good staying power

My only complaints are:

- the price: this foundation costs 25£ for 20ml and 32£ for 30ml, so it's pricey, however for its quality I would repurchase it!
- the Pro size is quite tiny! However, because of it's high pigmentation you'll require a very tiny amount for each application.

- it's not a totally matte finish foundation, so if you have really oily skin I wouldn't recommend it. For normal/combination skin setting it with powder is advisable and it will allow it to last longer.

- it's not widely available as it can be purchased mainly online (from the  Pro Makeup Store, Love Makeup or Cult Beauty if you live in Italy/EU/UK)
- moreover, if you're an eco-bio fan, this isn't the right product for you as it is a slicone-based foundation!

So I definitely recommend this foundation because it's a high quality product available in a wide range of shades and it's got a great lightweight formula so that you can forget you're actually wearing foundation!

Urban Decay - The NAKED Palette

We've ALL raved about this gorgeous palette....Me too! It's amazing! It's become one of my favorite palettes ever...High quality, pigmentation, gorgeous finishes...I love it!

Illamasqua Precision Ink in Abyss

THE liquid eyeliner! it's the blackest, most intense, insanely gorgeous and most long lasting eyeliner I've ever tried! I still haven't got the chance to review it properly, but I assure you that if you're looking for a fabulous black eyeliner that will set on your lid and stay there for ages with a gorgeous glossy finish...This one's for you!! I love Illamasqua and I think this is one of their best products!

Mac Marine Life Highlight Powder

Do you remember the To The Beach Collection for this past Summer by Mac? What was the most raved product of teh entire collection? In my opinion it was the Marine life highlight powder! It's gorgeous! So gorgeous I still haven't had the courage to use it to avoid spoiling it's amazing golden overspray! =P

Madina Milano Prisma Shine Collection

One word: LOVE. I've literally fallen in love with this brand! There isn't a single product I wouldn't repurchase! Starting with the Prisma Shine collection, with its Eyeshadows, Blushes and Highlighters! These are pure light on the eyes and cheeks!

Face Atelier Ultra Foundation

A latecomer for this year, as I've recently discovered it! This foundation makes the skin look flawless and healthy! Moreover is super long lasting, comfortable and high covering! I'm really liking it so far and I'll bring it with me in the new year! :D (review coming tomorrow!)

Caudalie Hand and Nails Nourishing Cream

The best hand cream I've ever had. Here it's so cold in winter and my hands and nails suffer so much! This is the perfect remedy for keeping them soft as silk and protected...moreover it strengthens my nails too, preventing breakage.

OCC Lip Tars

ALL of them! LOL! They're the most pigmented and intense lip colors I've ever tried! And you probably remember how much I love these! =P

Truccominerale Flatbuki Brush

Another late discovery but I'm loving it! This brush is PERFECT to apply foundation! It's got super dense bristles and it's so soft! I'm planning a review for it because it deserves it! :D

Chanel Paradoxal Nail Polish

The most duped of the year! LOL! Although the quality of this nail polish is mediocre, I think the color is quite unique and if you've had the chance to see it personally, I'm sure you agree =) I've put it in this list because it's the most duped and raved polish for this year in my opinion and because the color is gorgeous!

Too Faced Glamour Gloss

This is the most pigmented, insanely good scented and long lasting lipgloss I've tried! I'm in love with it! However, fate has decided I had to LOOSE it...I don't know why, but I cannot find it anymore! :( This will be my first (re)purchase of 2010! You bet it! ;-D

NOTD: E.l.f. Glitter Glam

Hi ladies!
Time for a NOTD! I've chosen the Limited Edition nail polish "Glitter Glam" by E.l.f.
This is a sparkling glitter pale gold with silver reflections in it, very pretty and Christmasy!
It's a sheer polish so it's suitable for layering to be applied over other "matte" or "cream" polishes to create a very nice effect, but I've decided to try it on its own.

From the images you can see one coat with base and top coat. As it's a glitter polish it lasts a little bit longer than other E.l.f. polishes, around four days on me, which isn't bad considering it's price (1,70€).

Chiudiamo l'anno...In bellezza!

Revlon ha proposto alle blogger di condividere le proprie conoscenze sul mondo del trucco, ecco così delle piccole guide di sopravvivenza per tutte le appassionate di makeup adatte a tutte le occasioni. Oggi voglio darvi qualche consiglio sul makeup di Capodanno! 

Parola d'ordine: brillare!

Capodanno è sicuramente la festività in cui tutto è concesso, anche osare e sperimentare con il makeup! E allora diamo sfogo alla creatività con glitter e luccichii per salutare l'anno vecchio e accogliere al meglio quello nuovo. Eccovi qualche consiglio per eccedere, mantenendo comunque un look sofisticato e mai troppo eccessivo!

Focalizziamo l'attenzione

Come per il makeup tradizionale, anche per Capodanno vale la stessa regola: bilanciare il trucco, se si decide di illuminare ed intensificare lo sguardo con ombretti metallici, brillanti o glitter, le labbra dovranno mantenersi naturali così come il resto del viso, scegliendo un rossetto color carne o un gloss insieme a un fard non troppo vistoso.

Al contrario, se decidiamo di focalizzare l'attenzione sulle labbra, possiamo optare per un rossetto intenso o molto brillante, lasciando gli occhi più naturali e applicando un illuminante sugli zigomi.

Un trucco lungo una notte...E oltre!

I festeggiamenti per accogliere l'anno nuovo, si sa, vanno avanti fino al mattino, di conseguenza anche il nostro trucco deve poterci accompagnare per tutta la notte e oltre! Ecco perché per le occasioni speciali come questa è preferibile applicare un primer per il viso che faccia la nostra base tutta la notte, così come una buon primer per ombretto e per le labbra, per evitare che i ripetuti brindisi portino via il nostro rossetto!

Se non amate le basi e i primer per il viso, che normalmente contengono siliconi, potete optare per un fissante trucco in spray, più leggero ma comunque efficace.

A ciascuno i suoi glitter!

Anche se è Capodanno ricordiamoci che vale sempre la teoria dei colori, per cui è bello sperimentare, ma è comunque importante scegliere i colori azzeccati per ciascun tipo di occhi e carnagione, lo stesso vale anche per i glitter! l’importante è che si abbinino al colore della vostra pelle quindi all’incarnato. In particolare:

Per chi ha un sottotono rosa i glitter argentati o dai toni freddi risalteranno maggiormente.

Se avete invece un sottotono giallo, l'oro, il bronzo e i glitter dai toni caldi sono l'ideale!

I dettagli fanno la differenza

Alcuni accorgimenti possono rendere un look stravagante ed esuberante come quello di Capodanno, sofisticato e raffinato! Ecco qualche trucco in più...

Applicando i glitter anche nella rima inferiore dell'occhio si otterrà un effetto "bagnato" ancora più luminoso.

Con un look scintillante e pieno di glitter le ciglia rischiano di passare in secondo piano, per evitarlo basterà applicare le ciglia finte; se non siamo esperte nell'applicazione basterà utilizzare anche solo le mezze ciglia sulla parte esterna di quelle naturali per intensificare il look e riportarle in primo piano.

Non dimentichiamoci le unghie! Per un tocco glamour possiamo abbinare il colore del trucco occhi con il colore dello smalto, se abbiamo scelto un trucco occhi naturale possiamo accordare lo smalto con il rossetto.

Se puntiamo tutto sulle labbra possiamo applicare il nostro rossetto, magari di un finish opaco e successivamente applicare un gloss in glitter o un glitter lip-safe solo al centro delle labbra per creare un punto luce su di esse e fare lo stesso con un mascara glitterato dello stesso colore, da applicare sopra le nostre ciglia naturali o finte. In alternativa possiamo applicare direttamente delle ciglia finte già glitterate.
